What is folklore? What does it mean to be a part of a community, a people, a folk?

Folklore ties us to our historical humanity, remaining still to this day an ever-present, poetic reminder of the power of communication and word of mouth – whether this arises familially, traditionally, or artistically. When introspecting folklore, the otherwise stark line between fiction and reality is softened – what do we see when we squint to blur this line? Is it the same as all that’s come before us? What stories arise from the daily monotony of regular life? From cave paintings and campfire songs, to that one embarrassing story you love to tell your friends, storytelling is an intrinsic, malleable part of being human; generational connections founded on tales of mystery, the stories of the regular folk that to this day pry our intrigue. What stories and myths will you pass down through Storehouse Issue 29? What arts, sounds, or mysteries do you have to share with us? Will we sit around the campfire with you, or will we explore the ancient stories of your culture? Sit beside us and join our community tapestry.
